Understanding Each Other

"Think calmly Kalyan. Think twice before you take a decision.  Deciding When you are distributed never leads to anything better.  Why don't you put aside the problem and stay calm for few days. Might be time gives you good  solution."  mother Sumathi tried to convince Kalyan.

"But  she didn't think even for a second.  She immediately left for her parents home not bothered  about us.". Kalyan said bitterly. "She will understand if days pass. Give her little time.  You have lived together for six years and parting so suddenly doesn't seem to be  sensible"  Sumathi seemed to be more worried about her son's breakup.

''Enough ma. I want to get separated. She has never respected you, always fought with you, never  bothered to help you in your household work'' .''But I have never complained to you about her.  she is still young. she will learn as time goes'' Sumathi tried to pacify him.  But Kalyan was not willing to listen.

The situation in Preeti's house was similar.  How much ever her parents tried to convince her , she was not willing to listen. '' He does not listen to me. He does not spend time with me. He loves to spend time with his friends more than me. He goes on bike rides with his friends every now and then but refuses to take me out at least once in a month. His dog, his bike and his friends are enough for him . He does not need a wife. '' She said with tears in her eyes. Her father Sekhar thought that he had to do something dramatic to solve this big problem.

''So what is the next step we have to do Sekharji . I am so worried about our children's future. They have not learnt to live with each other happily even after six years.''Sumathi said to Sekhar the next day when they met in a temple. Preeti' s mother Vani was almost in tears. ''We have to do something to unite them. Both Preeti and Kalyan are such nice people individually. I donot understand why they dont  adjust with each other.''  Vani said sadly.'' Behanji do as I tell . Let's see if they realize what is life.'' Sekhar laid a detailed plan.

The next day Kalyan woke up and found his mother still on bed. ''What happened ma ?  Are you not well? he asked. ''I think I am running temperature Can you cook for yourself.  Get me two idlis from hotel It is sufficient for me''  she said in a low voice.  The day became very hectic as he had to look after his mother along with his work. he wished for a second his wife was at home. last time his mother sprained her leg Preeti had taken care of her completely till she recovered.  The next two days went similarly. Infact his office work had increased and he did not have time to eat properly. Even at home he had to look at the milk bill, laundry bill, gas, current , groceries.....He understood -- homer maker's job was not easy. In fact  it consumed lot of time and energy. He suddenly started longing for Preeti. There in Preeti's mind similar  thoughts had begun. She noticed that from the day she had come home her brother very busy not spending much time with family. She found that her brother being a doctor was always at work not thinking about his wife or children Yet her sister in law seemed to be contented with her life .When asked how she merely said smilingly '' everything depends on how you see the problem. My husband doesnot have any bad habits. He looks after me and children well, provides us with all we want, encourages us to do the things we like,  what else do we need/? Every person has a draw back . we should not see it with magnifying glass. if you see only the negative side your hatred will spread ruining you.   see the positive traits and your joy will multiply. Give each other a little space and you can do wonders. ' Hearing these words Preeti started to go back to Kalyan. A few minutes later  her brother, father ,sister in law and mother in law ere congratulating each other on there acting talents.
