Even though there aren't any elections around the corner, whole India is buzzing one word and it is EVM. EVM short form for Electronic Voting Machine is now the machine used in polls to decide the future of politicians. It is not only easy to cast the vote, it is also easy to count the votes using EVM. Previously, paper ballot was used and it used to take more than 1 day to get an election result as more of manual counting was involved. Now-a-days, on the counting day, we see results declared within few hours of starting the counting. The technology has had few issues like EVM not working, EVM not powering on, etc but there were no doubts on the cross-voting happening. Recently, after few parties securing huge majorities in the assembly elections, parties started predicting misbehavior from machines. They started strongly expressing the tampering happening with voting machines.
The Arvind Khejriwal party AAP has been leading the fight against voting machines and they have set up a special assembly session in Delhi explaining how EVMs can be tampered. Election commission of India meanwhile claim that there is strong electronic protection included in the machines which will not allow any tampering. More over they say that reputed public sector companies like ECIL, BEL work on such units where there is very less scope of any code leaking out and utmost care is taken for code security.
Whatever may be the claims by political parties and election commission, a doubt has been raised in the minds of common man by the common man party and it takes some time for the election commission to settle the dust.
