What is Chennai famous for?

Chennai is the cultural capital of India. You definitely feel it when you once visit this city. This city is called the Detorit of Asia as it has 60km stretch of Automotive corridor. The central railway station was built 143 years ago. This is called the terminal railway station. And of course, we always hear of Sambar which is the most famous and tastiest. You may not get this taste in any place around the world. The next are the temples around the Chennai people prefer to visit. Of course, the traditional dress is very famous. Spencer Plaza is the oldest shopping mall in India a must visit. The next comes the Cement factories around which we have been reading in our social studies from our childhood. If you speak of Automotive, Chennai comes to mind. It is always at the core of the city and is a major source of income for the people from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka. People from around the country earn their livelihood here. Who can forget the film industry which has been here for years? The famous actors Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan and Jayalalitha. The simplicity of the people here must maze you. Dhoti is the most famous here and is the most attractive attire in India. The Marina beach is one of the best to see, whether it be for relaxation, agitation and cultural activities, this is place for the Chennai people. How can we forget the agitation that happened here for the Jalikattu. The British architectural buildings here amaze us. For ladies, Kancheepuram silk sarees are something special.

Now Chennai is famous for some more things which is amount of rainfall it receives. If it rains here, it doesn't stop, in fact it floods. We have seen flood like situation in 2015, and now in 2017 another due to Northeast monsoon. the meteorological office has recorded 441.3 mm of rainfall from the northeast monsoon this year and is expected to increase. The rainfall has been creating records year after year. This season 554.2 mm of rainfall has already been recorded. Water getting stagnated everywhere is the major problem for Chennai and improper drains for water to escape has been the major problem.
