The Missing Link

It was that time of the year where the academics start again after the summer vacation. There were student thronging to colleges for admissions. Rahul got his admission to one of the best colleges in the city. He was a confident guy with good track record in academics until that point. He continued the same record in the college as well. He used to travel to college on his own bike and he was the happiest guy with all good things in the air. One day he was walking around in the cricket ground when she saw a group of girls chit chatting in one of the corner in the ground. His focus suddenly shifted to one of the girls in that batch. He was having some nice feeling watching that girl. The girl suddenly noticed him watching her and she walked away from the spot.

From that moment, Rahul was in search of that girl in the college and one fine day found her having lunch in the food court. He purposely got seated in front of her at some distance and started watching her while having lunch. The same continued for months. At first the girl was not so interested in him but over a period of time both started looking at each other. Both used to watch each other but the girl always behaved as if she didn't knew her and treated Rahul as always a stranger. 

Years passed and these both never talked with each other. They didn't even knew the names of each other. But they always stared at each other. Whenever they used to face each other, both used to walk away even wihtout greeting each other. Finally, they were out of college and had to get separated. Even at this point, they didn't try to talk with each other.

One day Rahul went to a exhibition in the city he was working. He was accompanied by his family and two kids. He was having fun with the kids while one small kid joined his kids and started playing. Rahul was surprised to see the girl and was worried about the parents of the kid as they were no where seen. Suddenly, he saw a wife and a husband rushing towards the kid. When he went near them to warn them of leaving the kid alone,he was surprised to see that it was the same girl whom he used to stare at in the college. Even then they could not talk with each other and the couple walked away with their kid.

Rahul came back home and all the sweet memories flashed across his mind. He always felt that if there was someone who could help him talk to her, then the story would have been different. He felt bad for that "missing link".
