How many of you watched Telugu movie Love Story? If yes, did you watch it for Hero Naga Chaitanya or did you watch it for heroine Sai Pallavi dances or did you watch it as you like to watch love stories? Many might have any of the these reasons to watch this movie. While this is one part, the major reason why most of us watched this movie is for the director Shekar Kammula and I am among them. Off late, his movies are struck to one formula, village set up, town, poor vs rich, etc. You cannot expect movie from him without these themes.
While Love Story is just a movie revolving around the lead pair love story as indicated in the title, the way it is handled amazes you. There isn't nothing special about this movie but still you feel like you have watched a feel good movie. Even in many love centric movies , we might have seen love tracks to some extent but dominated by other commercial elements which include comedy, songs, fights, dialogues. Shekar Kammula just doesn't have any of such in his films expect the music. Let me tell you, Love Story is not different. But main thing that differentiates love story from other cinematic love stories is it brings us close to reality. This is where Shekar Kammula is a specialist. He just engaged the audience with neat sequences, lovely chit chat, that feel good moments and without much weight-age to story, it is those feel good moments which keeps the audience glued.
Love Story just shows how love develops between pair and how they come together finally. There isn't any other point apart from this. Director really must either have lot of belief in himself or he must have caught the pulse of audience to narrate such a thin line for two and half hours without getting bored. Director must be applauded for his attempt first and then applauded for the final output. He must have lot of guts to make such films on thin story lines. Adding to the movie, the background score just lifts the mood and how Shekar Kammula chooses his music directors is amazing.
Loved the movie and waiting for many such movies from him.
